Tony Norskog, winemaker has been making wines for over 25 years. His career includes a stint as head winemaker
for Nevada City Winery along with various adventures through the Central Coast of California and France as chief tank washer
and grape crusher.
He received his degree in enology from the University of California at Davis in 1977, the most prestigious
winemaking school in the country.
Tony has also been one of the vanguard winemakers within the organic wine world, helping to create outstanding
organic sulfite free wines at a great value for over 15 years.
ORLEANS HILL WINERY founded in the late 1970’s, Orleans hill Winery was originally located in Woodland
CA. Jim Lapsley, the original owner and winemaker switched to using only organically grown grapes in the late 1980’s.
In 2001 the wineries lease expired and the brand was purchased by the Nevada County Wine Guild with production moving to a
winery in Collegeville CA. The style of production has been maintained with fresh, youthful wines crafted to be easily drinkable
and sold nationally in the under $10 price range.
Tony Norskog, owner and winemaker of both the Orleans Hill Winery and Nevada County Wine Guild brands graduated
from UC Davis in the mid-70’s with a degree in Fermentation Sciences. He has worked a harvest in Bordeaux France, the
Napa Valley and Santa Maria and has spent the last 20 years working in the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Organically growing
grapes in Nevada County lead naturally to the pursuit of making fine wines with healthfulness on an equal footing with quality .
